Brain injury learning disability residential care for clients with brain injuries and learning disabilities Northampton

What care will I receive?

In Brief:

You may or may not need all the services that we have to offer, but we are committed to helping, guiding and encouraging you to help yourself.

There is a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in the home, it is your home. You can bring your own furniture with you including a T.V. or music system for your bedroom. In communal areas, a television, video and music system is available for you to use.

We will help you with your laundry on a daily basis and assist you with washing, dressing, eating, walking and other personal care if you need it.

We provide three meals a day and varied weekly menu, which you can help to plan. You may have particular favourites that you would like to include or things that you do not like. We will cater for all religious and ethnic requirements as fully as possible.

Sometimes people need to eat certain foods or refrain from eating certain foods for health/medical reasons. We will ensure that staff take these needs into account when providing food for you.

We will also seek support and advice from a qualified dietician to ensure that all your nutritional needs are catered for and to look at any special requirements with you and your key worker.

Each week we hold a house meeting to offer you, and the other people living here, the opportunity to make requests and suggestions and to give us your views.

We will ensure that you have regular appointments with a Doctor, Dentist and Optician and any other health professionals if the need arises.

We will also arrange contact for you with your Social Worker and your family, including regular visits home.

We have a weekly activity schedule, which is varied and optional. Some people enjoy using this service, which includes going to the cinema, swimming, pub and café visits, while others prefer the quiet of the lounge or the privacy of their bedroom.

If you are interested in attending a day centre, a computer course or an aromatherapy massage, we can offer this also.

If a service you require is not available within the home, we will strive to provide the transport and staff support to enable you to do it. If you already have your own hobbies and interests, we will try to organise and develop those for you.
