Top up and Respite Care
Respite care can provide families and carers with a much welcome break and a chance to go on holiday.
It can be an enjoyable break for the service user too – a change of scene, the opportunity to stay in a welcoming and friendly environment, and perhaps to meet up with friends.
‘Top up’ care and treatment can also help the service user to stay on track, so they continue to progress with their rehabilitation. Respite care may also help to identify whether the service user requires any additional (or different) support or treatment, and may prevent the need arising for crisis care.
Service users who return to The Richardson Partnership for Care for respite care as part of their discharge programme have access to our full multi-disciplinary support team, including Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Psychologists and a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist as well as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech & Language Therapists.
In addition, service users can take part in a wide range of activities such art therapy, music therapy as well as social activities, which can also aid recovery or learning. Click the following link to find out more information about activities for service users.
Service users who come to The Richardson Partnership for respite care have access to the same facilities as those staying for a longer period. They have an ensuite wetroom with a shower and access to a bathroom with a specially-equipped bath. Some rooms have their own kitchen, but service users can also prepare their own food in the house kitchen or the occupational therapy kitchen if they wish.
We also provide emergency respite care, working quickly, efficiently and compassionately to ensure a safe and smooth admission for the service user. Click here for more information about emergency referrals.
At The Richardson Partnership for Care we provide respite care for service users on an ad hoc basis or at regular intervals as part of their discharge arrangements and progression along their care pathway.
